This guide is written for UK players who use SlimKing or are thinking about it. It sets out the tools available on your account, the legal protections that apply to every UK-licensed casino, the signs that gambling may be becoming a problem and the organisations that offer free help. If you need to talk to someone now, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. It is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day.
Basic principles
- Only gamble with money you can afford to lose. Treat it as the cost of entertainment, not an investment.
- Gambling is not a way to make money, pay bills or clear debts.
- Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and stop when you reach either.
- Do not chase losses by depositing more to win back what you have lost.
- Avoid gambling when you are stressed, upset, unwell or have been drinking.
- Take regular breaks and balance gambling with other activities.
Safer-gambling tools at SlimKing
UK-licensed operators must provide tools that let you control your gambling. SlimKing offers the following from your account settings.
| Tool | What it does | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limits | Caps how much you can deposit | Daily, weekly or monthly; can be set at registration |
| Loss limits | Caps your net losses over a period | Daily, weekly or monthly |
| Reality checks | Shows an on-screen reminder of how long you have been playing | You choose the interval |
| Time-out | Blocks access to your account for a short period | 24 hours to 6 weeks |
| Self-exclusion | Closes access to your account for a long period | 6 months to 5 years |
| GAMSTOP | Excludes you from all UK-licensed online gambling sites | 6 months, 1 year or 5 years |
Deposit and loss limits
You can set a deposit limit during registration, which takes about two minutes. You can change it at any time afterwards. A decrease applies straight away; an increase only applies after a cooling-off period. A loss limit works in the same way but is based on how much you lose rather than how much you deposit.
Reality checks
A reality check displays a pop-up after a set interval showing how long your session has lasted and how much you have won or lost. Use it to decide whether to continue or stop.
Time-out
A time-out lets you take a break of between 24 hours and 6 weeks. Your account is locked for the chosen period and reopens automatically afterwards. You cannot cancel a time-out once it has started.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion is for anyone who feels they need a longer break. You can choose a period of between 6 months and 5 years. During this time you cannot log in or deposit, and SlimKing must stop sending you marketing. The exclusion cannot be lifted early. When it ends, your account does not reopen automatically; you would need to contact support to discuss returning. To set one up, use your account settings or contact SlimKing support.
GAMSTOP
GAMSTOP is the free national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling in Great Britain. All UK-licensed operators, including SlimKing, must take part. One registration at gamstop.co.uk blocks you from every participating site for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. It is a good option if you hold, or might open, accounts with several operators.
UK rules that protect you
These rules apply at SlimKing and at every casino licensed in Great Britain:
- You must be 18 or over. Your age and identity are checked before you can deposit or play; see our verification guide.
- Online slot stakes are limited to £5 per spin, or £2 per spin if you are aged 18 to 24.
- Slots have no autoplay, no turbo or quick-spin features, and each spin lasts at least 2.5 seconds.
- Bonus wagering requirements are capped at 10 times the bonus amount. See our wagering guide.
- Credit cards and cryptocurrency cannot be used to gamble.
- Operators must carry out affordability and wellbeing checks, and may ask for evidence of income if your spending rises.
Warning signs
Gambling may be becoming a problem if you recognise any of the following:
- spending more money or time on gambling than you intended;
- needing to bet larger amounts to get the same feeling;
- trying to win back money you have lost;
- borrowing money, selling possessions or missing bills to gamble;
- feeling restless, irritable or anxious when trying to cut down;
- hiding or lying about your gambling to family or friends;
- gambling affecting your work, studies, sleep or relationships;
- feeling guilty or low after gambling.
If any of these apply, consider setting a limit, taking a time-out or self-excluding, and speak to one of the organisations listed below.
Take the self-assessment
Thinking about the last 12 months, answer each question honestly. Your answers stay on this device.
This self-assessment is based on the nine questions of the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI), a widely used screening tool. Your answers stay in your browser. The result is an indication only and is not a diagnosis. If it raises concerns, contact the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

Advice for family and friends
Gambling problems often affect the people around the player as much as the player. If you are worried about someone:
- Choose a calm moment to talk, and focus on how their gambling affects you rather than blaming them.
- Avoid lending money or paying off their gambling debts, as this can allow the problem to continue.
- Protect your own finances, for example by keeping separate accounts.
- Encourage them to use limits, self-exclusion or GAMSTOP, and to contact the National Gambling Helpline.
- Look after yourself. GamCare offers support to family members and friends as well as to gamblers, on the same number: 0808 8020 133.
Blocking software and bank controls
Blocking tools add a practical barrier that can help when self-control is difficult.
- Gamban blocks access to gambling websites and apps on phones, tablets and computers. Details are at gamban.com.
- Bank gambling blocks. Many UK banks let you block gambling transactions on your debit card through their app. Check your bank’s app or ask your bank.
- Device controls. Parental controls and content filters on phones and home broadband can also restrict access to gambling sites.
Using a blocking tool together with GAMSTOP and self-exclusion at SlimKing gives the strongest protection.
